Part-time Receptionist at High Volume Spay/Neuter Nonprofit Clinic


Pay: $18 to start with evaluation for potential increase after initial 90 business days of trial period.


Required – Two (2) years of experience working in a veterinary clinic preferred or alternatively, working in reception in a clinic environment. Please do NOT apply ifyou do not have experience as a receptionist.

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate part-time receptionist to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to support
veterinary professionals in providing high-quality medical care to pets. This role requires
a combination of reception, technical skills, animal handling abilities, and excellent
communication skills to ensure the well-being of our patients and their owners. We are
looking for a detailed-oriented person with a positive attitude who can work both
independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and organizational skills
to schedule surgery days for the general public, rescue organizations as well as
trappers for Feral Cat surgery days. Relationship with or knowledge of local rescues is a
plus. The ideal candidate will be the “face of ARC,” projecting a professional and
polished appearance when greeting and interacting with patient families and rescues.
Cell phone use and eating food is not allowed in the reception area as we are focused
on presenting an atmosphere of optimal health, safety, efficiency and respect for our
clientele. Attire is business professional with scrubs being provided by ARC. Candidate
must be well-groomed, including maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

Duties:
- Show up promptly (7:45 a.m.) for the day to be prepared for the timely intake of
patients. Discharge and all duties are typically completed by 5:00 p.m. There is
the need to occasionally work a Saturday.
- Present a professional appearance as reception is the face of the clinic, dressing appropriately and refraining from use of personal cell phone. No food is
consumed in reception. A break room is available for lunch. The reception area is to be kept orderly and clean at all times.
- Greet visitors with respect and promptness.
- Efficiently and politely assist with intake and discharge of patients.
- Answer and return phone calls promptly.
- Schedule appointments.
- Print and distribute correspondence, medical documents and forms.
- Assist with various administrative tasks including filing, copying, scanning, etc.
- Maintain office supplies inventory and notify clinic manager of necessary supplies to be ordered.
- Maintain office security protocols as necessary.
- Assist in the surgical area with basic cleaning or as needed.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment is preferred but experience working in reception in a clinic environment would be considered.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology is preferred.
- Skills in animal handling and restraint techniques are preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interactions.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- A commitment to providing compassionate care for all animals and demonstrating respect for team members and patients.
