The ARC team overcame the challenges of 2020, providing over 4,400 spay or neuter surgeries for our patients since the clinic reopened in April after a seven-week closure. We doubled our efforts to provide affordable, yet high quality services for our rescue partners like Sarasota County Animal Services (SCAS). The need for spay/neuter surgeries became more critical than ever for rescues, as they continued to take in strays during the pandemic, filling kennels to capacity.
ARC also continued to be a resource to the Suncoast region communities. Unemployment rates soared during the pandemic and again, ARC’s affordable services were appreciated by pet owners who would not otherwise be able to afford surgeries, vaccines and preventative medications for their dogs and cats.
ARC continues to also be a resource for feral cat trappers and organizations which work to control the breeding cycle of community cats. ARC has worked through the odds this past year, keeping staff and clients safe, ensuring continuation of surgeries and raising necessary funds through events like our Celebration of Unconditional Love, which was held virtually this year. We did this through the generosity of sponsors, individual donors and with the help of donations from area businesses.
